Editing
Doco Translate allows you to review and edit translated content directly within the app. This is useful when machine translation needs refinement, or when you want to apply domain-specific corrections.
Editing Paragraphs
Selecting a Paragraph
- Hover over a translated paragraph to highlight it.
- Click the paragraph to select it.
- A toolbar appears above the selected paragraph with editing options.
Editing Text
- Select a paragraph and click the Edit button (pencil icon) in the toolbar.
- The paragraph switches to an inline text editor.
- Make your changes to the translated text.
- Click Save (checkmark icon) to confirm, or Discard (x icon) to cancel.
Note: Editing only modifies the translated text. The original source text is always preserved.
Copying Text
- Select a paragraph.
- Click the Copy button (clipboard icon) in the toolbar.
- The translated text is copied to your system clipboard.
- A brief "Copied" tooltip confirms the action.
Re-translating a Paragraph
If you're not satisfied with a specific paragraph's translation:
- Select the paragraph.
- Use the service selector in the toolbar to choose a different translation service.
- The paragraph is re-translated using the new service.
- The new translation replaces the previous one.
Tip: This is useful when one service produces better results for a particular type of content (e.g., technical terms, idioms).
Deleting a Paragraph
- Select the paragraph.
- Click the Delete button (trash icon) in the toolbar.
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog.
Warning: Deleting a paragraph removes it permanently from the translation record. This action cannot be undone.
Editing Images
In Reflow mode, you can interact with images in the document:
Translating an Image
- Click an image to select it.
- Click the Translate button in the image toolbar.
- If the image has already been translated, the toggle switches between the original and translated versions.
Deleting an Image
- Select an image.
- Click the Delete button (trash icon) in the image toolbar.
- Confirm the deletion.
Paragraph-Level Service Override
Each paragraph can be translated by a different service. This is useful when:
- The default service fails on a specific paragraph.
- You want to compare how different services handle the same text.
- A particular service excels at certain content types.
When you re-translate a paragraph with a different service, the override is saved for that paragraph. The overall document service setting remains unchanged.
Edits and Export
All edits you make are preserved when you export the document:
- Edited paragraphs are included in PDF, image, text, and Markdown exports.
- Re-translated paragraphs use the updated translation.
- Deleted paragraphs are excluded from the export.
See Exporting for more details on export options.
